9 days until the 2016 United States presidential election... Richard Nixon's Oval Office rug / by Johannes Reponen

It is a tradition that each new administration redecorates the Oval Office to the President's liking, selecting an oval carpet, new drapery, the paintings on the walls, and some furniture. Up until 1945, the traditional colour of the Oval Office rug was green. For his time in the office between 1969-1974, Pat Nixon designed the rug for her husband’s office and it featured the Presidential seal in gold in the centre and golden stars around the edge.
